Steps

 

1.  Divide each term in the numerator individually by the monomial in the denominator.

2.  This step is an analytical step.  You do not actually calculate anything.  Instead, you explain what would happen to the function when x approaches infinity.

3.  State the equation of the diagonal asymptote which is of the form y=mx+b.
