  1. Calculate the derivative (power rule).

Step 1

f’(x)=6x^2-2x+2

Step 2

f’(-2)=6(-2)^2-2(-2)+2

f’(-2)=6(4)+4+2

f’(-2)=24+4+2

f’(-2)=30

Step 3

The slope of the curve at x=-2 is 30.
